Salmon with lemon and mustard
sauce
If you are looking for
quick and healthy dish on your weekday after work, I would recommend this easy
and fast recipe of salmon with lemon and mustard sauce.
This dish is not just full
of flavors, but it is a very well balanced nutritious meal, perfect for
dinner after you hit the gym.
Fish farming is a
very old practice. The ancient Assyrians and Romans farmed fish in ponds. For
thousands of years the, Chinese have farmed fish using their rice fields during
the periods when the fields are under water. Moreover, techniques such as
smoking and salting have been used to preserve salmon. To this day, smoked
salmon is enjoyed as traditional fare in the cuisines of the Russian
Federation, Britain and Scandinavia.[1]
Salmon types are usually classified by the ocean in which they are located. In the Pacific, they are part of the genus Oncorhynchus, and in the Atlantic they belong to the genus Salmo. There is only one migratory Atlantic species but five existing species of Pacific salmon: chinook (or king), sockeye (or red), coho (or silver), pink and chum. [2]
My salmon dish with
lemon and mustard sauce is easily prepared. This healthy dish is perfect after
work-out and will take only 20 min from your time. Using sour cream mixed with
mustard and lemon, will give your traditional salmon a special zing.
Ingredients:
Salmon (5-6 pieces)
1 pack of sour cream
4 lemons
2 limes
2 tablespoons of
Dijon mustard
Salt and Pepper
Dill for garnish
Kitchen equipment
and utensils:
1 bowl
1 cast iron pan
1 whisk
1 grater
1 spatula
Method:
1. Wash your salmon with water and lemon. Place
it on a plate to dry.
2. Add sour cream and mustard to the bowl and whisk.
3. Grate one lemon and one lime and add their
zest to the sour cream mixture. Whisk and add salt and pepper.
4. Juice two lemons and the lime and slice one
lemon.
5. Place your pan on high heat. Season the fish
and add it to the pan and add the salmon
skin-side down.
6. Cook until golden brown on 1 side, about 4
minutes and then flip it on the side using a spatula.
7. Add the lemon/lime juice to the salmon, and
place lemon slices on top of each piece of fish. Cover for 5 minutes.
8. Finally, add the sour cream mustard mixture
and stir for two minutes.
9. Cut some dill for garnish and your dish is
ready to serve. (I used parsley as I didn't have dill available)
